Our weekly roundup of exciting new One Series pedal presets created by the Neuro Community
|
Welcome to the latest edition of This Week in Neuro - our semi-weekly roundup of cool new published presets created for Source Audio pedals by the Neuro Community. Keep the awesome presets coming and don't forget to record and embed sound clips in the preset listing (Watch the video on this page for instructions on preset creation, publishing, and sound clip embedding) - we love hearing your published presets in action. This week we've got an excellent collection: some vintage Nintendo vibes from the C4 Synth, a vicious Tim Commerford inspired tone for the Ultrawave Bass, a little Johnny Marr magic from the Collider Delay+Reverb, and more. The Neuro Community have been very busy in the early days of 2023!!
"8bits_forever" - C4 Synth - Created by B4ss21
If you weren't around for the early days of home video game systems, don't be sad, just grab your C4 Synth an upload B4ss21's "8bits_forever" preset and bask in the glory of its vintage Nintendo vibes. It is a fairly simple preset, just a single square wave oscillator set up a single octave, bust such is the nature of early 8-bit video game audio. He recorded an excellent clip for the preset - nailed it, basically.
"Johnny Marr Lead" - Collider Delay+Reverb - Created by Gr00vyphil
Any Johnny Marr fans out there? Source Audio's own Phil "gr00vyphil" Cambra hit the mark with this preset and sound clip. It all started when Phil was talking about a studio trick used by Marr where he put super-thin gauge strings on his Jaguar (.009) and tuned it up a whole step (to F#), to achieve some of the mega-jangley tones on some of The Smiths' most well-known tracks. Notably, this is a trick he used on The Smiths classic, This Charming Man. So we tried to replicate the sound here in the Source Audio studio, by up-tuning Phil's Jag and running it into the Atlas Compressor's Dual engine and from there hitting his "Johnny Marr Lead" preset for the Collider Delay+Reverb. The preset uses the Collider's Analog Delay engine with the Time knob set very short and some additional pitch modulation, which creates an effect similar to chorus. The Analog Delay then cascades into the Collider's Plate reverb on the second DSP. And how about a round of applause for Phil's excellent guitar playing in this clip? Johnny Marr riffs are generally not at all easy to play.
"RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE" - Ultrawave Multiband Bass Processor - Created by Tay86
It's just another Bombtrack! This Ultrawave Multiband Bass Processor preset does an excellent job of capturing the vibe of those mega-aggressive and sought-after bass tones of amazing Tim Commerford, bassist for Rage Against the Machine. We highly recommend trying this one at stage volume to really hear in all its glory. The preset uses relatively mild two-band overdrive configuration. Where it gets its power is in the Compressor module. Tay86 has the Threshold set down almost as low as it will go, but he's really pushing the Output Gain. The result is a tight, but gritty sound that captures the tone of a bass amp pushed to its limits.
"Binson Korus Moves" - Nemesis Delay - Created by Ellsinator9
Did you know that the Nemesis Delay has a Binson Echorec engine? It's true, the Binson Drum Echo (Multi-Head) will give you those incredible rhythmic delay sounds with analog warmth that are heard all over Pink Floyd's biggest tracks. You'll find the Echorec engine in the Nemesis Delay's Neuro Editor. It's one of the 14 additional delay types available in the Neuro Editor. Ellsinator9's preset has the "Tap 2 Time Ratio" set to 1/3 for that galloping, dotted eighth effect that Gilmour used to such great effect.
That is all for now. Keep on publishing those presets and recording those sound clips. We are always listening... It's what we do. See you next time!
