Our weekly roundup of exciting new One Series pedal presets created by the Neuro Community
|
Welcome back to This Week in Neuro - our semi-weekly roundup of interesting new presets created by the ever-growing family of Neuro preset creators. We love hearing what everyone is doing with our pedals, so don't forget to record sound clips of your presets in action. Follow this link for instructions on preset creation, publishing, and sound clip embedding.
This week we have an impressive array of presets to show you. There are a few experimental/ambient presets for the C4 Synth and Spectrum Intelligent Filter, a classic funk preset for the Nemesis Delay, and some cool rhythmic repeats from the Collider Delay+Reverb. Thanks to everybody for helping make the Neuro Community such a vibrant and inspiring place. "GMC JabbaFunk" - Spectrum Intelligent Filter" - Created by GazzaJagMan
Let's kick things off with a banger! This preset for the Spectrum Intelligent Filter combines an octave down voice with a 2 Pole Low Pass filter and a Gated Fuzz for an extremely synth-y sound. The "GMC JabbaFunk" preset (created by GazzaJagMan) might sound like it has a very slow moving envelope attack, but the opposite is true. The preset actually takes advantage of the Spectrum's ability to invert the filter, which flips the whole process on its head. The envelope is set to a very fast attack, which instantly pulls the filter down to the lower frequencies. As the envelope releases the filter gradually opens up the higher frequencies, giving you a very smooth blooming effect. It's a very clever little trick that sounds fantastic.
"Nile Rodgers: Let's Dance" - Nemesis Delay - Created by SourceAudio_Official
This one is a holdover from our recent Nemesis Delay giveaway. We asked people to tell us the first song they remember hearing that made them aware of delay/echo effects. More than a few people cited Nile Rodger's funky guitar line on Bowie's "Let's Dance." It is a fantastic use of a delay effect with stereo ping-pong capabilities. We decided to try and create a preset ourselves that captures the energy of Rodger's guitar line, and ended up using the Nemesis Delay's Digital engine to capture the crisp and clear repeats of the original track. The delay's beat division is set to a dotted 8th, so use the tap tempo switch to determine the delay Time and the beat division will give you the funky swing necessary to rock this tune.
"Toothy Twins" - C4 Synth - Created by TheHook
What a pleasure it is to revisit "Tooth7 Twins," a classic C4 Synth preset from our old friend The Hook. We have seen a lot of interest in this preset recently. No surprise, it's fantastic. Also, Nick Garrity, the newest member of the Source Audio family recorded a killer clip with it that really reimagines how one might use this preset. "Toothy Twins" highlights the C4 Synth's ability to produce a thick and fuzzy tone with a bizarre, vowel-ly growl. It's a 100% pure synth tone that combines two Saw wave oscillators (both set an octave down) and two Square wave oscillators (one at the root octave and the second an octave up). It's thick, it's aggressive, it sounds great.
"Rev Plate Triplet" - Collider Delay+Reverb - By Beau3tiful
The "Rev Plate Triplet" preset for the Collider Delay+Reverb - created by Beau3tiful - taps into a little known option of the Collider's Reverse Engine. When using the Reverse effect, the job of the TONE knob is no longer to adjust the equalization of the repeats, it changes the number of Voices in the repeats. If you turn the TONE knob all the way to the left, you will hear a single reversed repeat, which gives you the classic psychedelic tape reversal effect, but as you turn the knob clockwise the effect adds more voices, creating a blurry, ambient sound with a subtle rhythmic quality. Run that effect into the Collider's Plate reverb and the sounds gets even larger and more ambient. This preset sounds great with slow moving arpeggios or tight staccato picking.
"memory gardenv2" - C4 Synth - Created by Murray1013
"Memory GardenV2" does a very nice job of combining the C4's Polyphonic Pitch Shifting capabilities with a mild sprinkling of the Sample and Hold LFO effect. There are two activated Voices, both set to Polyphonic Shift. The first Voice pitches up one octave, the other Voice pitches down one octave. The result is an other-worldly ambience that really sings. The Sample and Hold LFO is mixed in just a little bit to give the preset a touch of random chaos. This preset sounds really nice with both complex arpeggios and aggressive riff-rock lines.
That is all for now. Keep on publishing those presets and recording those sound clips. And look... spring is finally here! Make sure you get outside for a little while between guitar sessions. :-)
