An excellent tour of the ZIO Analog Front End + Boost from music producer and composer Michael Nielsen. Michael tests the ZIO in a number of different rig scenarios including a spin through each the preamps circuits with a relatively clean 80's Soldano SLO-100 into a Fryette Deliverance 4x12 with Fane F70 speakers. He also does some nice A/B testing between the ZIO, a Tube Screamer, an MXR Micro Amp, and an MXR Boost/Line Driver. The A/B testing is certainly not a "this is better than this" type of shoot out - rather it's just fun to hear how each of the preamp/boost pedals differ from one another. It's always up to the guitarist to decide which piece of gear works best for her or him.
BTW, we're big fans of Michael's YouTube channel. He is an incredibly accomplished producer who certainly knows his way around guitar gear and recording equipment and his videos are always very informative. This video was filmed and recorded at Michael's home-base of Ninja Tracks out of the Encino, California area. You've probably already heard his music from countless films, records and video game soundtracks, but if you want to learn more about Michael, we highly recommend that you check out his website.
