Pete Thorn just embarked on a journey to Liverpool, and he couldn’t leave our new ZIO behind. Take a quick rig tour with Pete and see how he uses the ZIO in a real live context. In his infinite wisdom, Pete referred to the ZIO as “different from any other boost pedal [he’s] tried” and as “an [additional] 12ax7 gain stage in front of the amp” for his already cooking Suhr PT15 rig. This is a reference to a common amp modification back in the 70s and 80s that involved adding an additional 12ax7 preamp tube with the low end shaved off to add saturation and tightness to the amp's natural distortion. The main focus of Pete’s demo is his favorite mode, the LOW-CUT mode, but towards the end of the video, he does run through each mode in front of both the distorted and clean channels of his on-stage amplifier.
