Our weekly roundup of exciting new One Series pedal presets created by the Neuro Community
|
Welcome back to This Week in Neuro, our weekly roundup of newly published Neuro Preset from the Source Audio Neuro Community. July is not typically a big month for effects pedal preset creation - the warm weather tends to lure many musicians out into the great outdoors. That said, we did see a nice amount of Neuro activity this week and we heard some great new presets. We've got some excellent presets and sound clips created by a few of our favorite community members including C4 Synth presets from @markneary1 and @flip362, plus a haunting Ventris preset from @bwondrak. We've also got a nice pair of presets from some relative newcomers, @chrisjw5 and @bjarki.

This super-funky, Stevie Wonder inspired preset for the C4 Synth is not entirely new. @markneary1 published a version of this preset last summer, but it looks like he's made some minor tweaks and re-published. To be honest, it's such a fantastic preset, we could not pass on the chance to feature it again. Plus, the Youtube clip is pure fire. If you want to capture that classic Moog synth bass sound, you would be hard pressed to find a more accurate replication than Mark Neary's "Wonder City Bass" preset. Take it, Stevie!!
"Low Fidelity Cave" - Created by @bwondrak - Ventris Dual Reverb
We got all kinds of cool s**t happening here. "Low Fidelity Cave" relies on the Ventris' Lo-Fi engine with the Diffusion turned all the way down and the Pre-Delay Feedback turned all the way up to create something similar to a vintage tape delay with minimum delay time and maximum repeats. The Option switch temporarily engages a Pre-Delay Build to send the effect into self-oscillation for the amount of time the switch is held down. Do you like gritty, lo-fi reverbs? @bwondrak has a gritty, lo-fi reverb for just you...
"Watermelon Sugar" - Created by @flip362 - C4 Synth
Our friend @flip362 (a.k.a. "Sean Folk") is back, with a synth infused fuzz for the masses. Sean did a great job of capturing the synth/fuzz guitar line from the Harry Styles smash, Watermelon Sugar. If we suddenly see an uptick in C4 Synth sales from the middle school demographic, we'll know exactly who to blame. Just joking... if you don't find yourself just a bit taken with the infectious vibe of this superbly produced Styles track, you may want to check and make sure you still have a pulse - just sayin'.
"Stereo Analog Chorus" - by @chrisjw5 - Collider Delay+Reverb
This is not the first time we've heard one of our delay pedals transformed into a chorus pedal, but damn(!), it sounds good. In this preset @chrisjw5 runs two Analog Delay engines in parallel to create this sticky, ooey-gooey chorus effect with just the right amount of pitch modulation. It's actually pretty easy to steer the Collider into chorus territory by turning the TIME and FEEDBACK knobs all the way down, dialing in the wet signal's pitch modulation to taste, and setting the MIX knob somewhere around 50/50. We couldn't resist pulling out an Andy Summers riff to demo this wonderful preset.
"Octave Up" - Created by @bjarki - Ultrawave Multiband Bass
Gettin' tight and nasty for the bass players. This super aggressive preset leans heavily on a double dose of octave-up fuzz. There is a nice bit of compression feeding into an Octave Foldback overdrive with a 10-band frequency split. The 10-band frequency split is actually voiced for guitar, but it also sounds great with bass. Filtering out the low frequencies really gives this preset a tremendous amount of punch with a very tight foundation.
That's it for now - huge thanks to everybody that created some new sounds for us to explore. We're always on the lookout for cool new presets, so keep publishing those One Series pedal presets and don't forget to embed sound clips! See you next week.
