Our weekly roundup of exciting new One Series pedal presets created by the Neuro Community
|
Hello, effects pedal connoisseurs! We hope all of y'all are keeping cool this July - the heat is HOT this year. As expected, the Neuro Community have been hyper productive this summer, creating some excellent presets. This month we have a great collection of fun useful presets for you, including one that falls into that category of "cool tricks" for the Collider Delay+Reverb, a one-size-fits-all synth bass sound for the C4 Synth, a modern dance pop necessity for the Atlas Compressor, and a straight-up bizarro sound experiment for the Nemesis Delay. So come on along and check out some great One Series pedal presets created by an exceptional group of humans beings we call, the Neuro Community.
"Digital Tape" - Collider Delay+Reverb - Created by Bwondrak
This video, created by Bwondrak (a.k.a. "Be Here Now"), is filled with excellent Collider Delay+Reverb presets and sound clips, from sprawling ambient sounds to classic go-to effects. The "Digital Tape" preset shows up at about 5:20 in the video. It takes advantage of one of the Collider's little-known tricks. When using a reverb engine, pressing and holding the Reverb footswitch will infinitely sustain the tail of whatever reverb effect you're using. However, if you "Unlock" the pedal and assigned one of the delay engines to the Reverb footswitch, the Sustain function sends the delay repeats into self-oscillation, which is always a good time. Bwondrak does a great job of demonstrating this self-oscillation feature in this video's sound clip.
"Moog Bass" - C4 Synth - Created by Huwfoster
This C4 Synth preset is exceptionally handy for any bassist that needs a "one size fits all" synth bass sound to cover those funky, dance pop lines. It is, of course, based on the classic Moog bass sound that has graced so, so many pop recordings over the years. Creator Huwfoster doesn't take full credit for this preset, he had a nice starting point with a preset called "Synth Bass" created by Neuro user, Bassgroovebsr6tn@gmail. Huw posted an excellent demo video on his Youtube channel (The channel is "Huw Foster") where he quickly dives into the Neuro Editor and shows us how to quickly cover a sizable range of sounds with just a few knob tweaks. It doesn't hurt that Huw is an excellent player and his clips are recorded beautifully.
"ziiiiiiiip" - Nemesis Delay - Created by Mattthecat
Ya' know what? Not every preset is gonna work so well with those tried-and-true blues riffs. Exhibit A: "ziiiiiiiip" by Mattthecat. This preset is a straight-up freakshow, but it sounds spectacular. Basically what we have here is the Digital delay engine set to 100% wet with the with the Modulation Depth turned all the way up and the Modulation Speed turned all the way down, so you get a slow and steady pitch sweep that just works. Have fun with this one...
"Aggressive Side Chain Compressor" - Atlas Compressor - Created by Sourceaudio_official
So what is side chain compression, anyway? Well.... this video explains it fairly succinctly. It's a relatively simple process, that you can hear all over electronic dance and pop music these days. It is mainly a studio trick done during post production with rack gear or plug-ins, and as far as we know the Atlas Compressor is the only effects pedal that can do it. Basically it works like this, you have one instrument going through Input 1 and a separate instrument going through Input 2. The compression is being applied to Input 1's signal, but the compressor is reacting to Input 2's signal. The sound clip in this video is a classic example where a bass drum triggers a compressor that is applied to some type of drone note or chord pad. The result is a very hypnotic pumping effect. We recommend using his preset as a starting point for creating your own flavor of side chain compression.
"GMC - Dimension M Quad Chorus" - Gemini Chorus - Created by Gazzajagman
A super-swirly chorus sound for the Gemini Chorus, created by Gazzajagman. This patch is loosely based on the Dimension C chorus from the good people at BOSS. The Quad chorus engine is the Gemini's most lush and complex chorus effect, great for those swirling clean arpeggio lines.
"Neon Unicorn" / "Neom Bee" / "Neon Bee" / "Neon Hampster" / "Neon Pig" - C4 Synth - Created by Noai
Just an FYI, you don't need neon strings to use Noai's "Neon" suite of killer synth bass sounds!!! All four of these presets have their own unique characteristics, but they hold to together very nicely as a collection of hyper-modern sounding bass effects with aggressive fuzz and three-dimensional depth. Choose your animal - they're all slightly feral, but completely beautiful.
"D Verb Trem 2" - True Spring Reverb - Created by Babyd
Set the controls for maximum ambience! This True Spring Reverb preset uses the Tank reverb engine set to a Large spring. Combine that with the True Spring's Harmonic tremolo engine set to maximum depth and off you go. As you will hear in the clip, the Harmonic tremolo effect conjures vibes similar to a phaser effect, which also works well when it's toned down to a more subtle movement.
That is all for now. Keep on publishing those presets and recording those sound clips. See you soon!
