You gotta love when one of your pedals makes a cameo appearance in a video from one of your favorite YouTubers! We were totally psyched to see the Ventris Dual Reverb's Shimmer, Offspring, and LoFi engines show up in this Paul Davids video. We are huge fans of Paul Davids - he is an excellent guitar player and an excellent thinker. And WOW, has Paul got the Ventris DIALED IN or what?!?!
This video poses and excellent question: When is enough enough when it comes to our favorite effects? Case in point, Shimmer Reverb - it's a gorgeous sound (well some might disagree, but oh well), but you don't want to use in every song, and you SHOULD try to avoid turning to your effects pedals every time you can't come up with an interesting part (c'mon, who here isn't guilty of that at some time in their career?). That said, when effects are used affectively to enhance a mood or song, they are a wonderful, wonderful thing. Anybody else out there have an effect that they turn to too often?
