Rhett is a tone connoisseur... for sure. In this video he describes the advantages of using a boost pedal in favor of an overdrive pedal to add some additional grit to his guitar tone. Rhett Shull Uses the ZIO Analog Front End + Boost to Overdrive His Fender Tweed Deluxe.

Some more fantastic guitar playing from Rhett Shull. This time Rhett shows how to get all the tones you need out one amplifier. He starts by explaining the value of developing an understanding of the basic functions of your amp, then moves on to the best practices in using fuzz, overdrive, reverb, delay and tremolo pedals. He also demonstrates how you might use the ZIO Analog Front End + Boost's E-PLEX preamp circuit (based on a vintage Echoplex preamp) to naturally overdrive an amplifier. The ZIO section of the video starts at 11:07. As usual, Rhett picks some great gear and achieve some killer guitar tones.

Rhett Shull: The One Pedal Everybody Needs... Boost!

Rhett Shull talks about the beauty of pushing his Supro Black Magic Reverb TB amplifier into overdrive by pumping the input signal with the ZIO Analog Front End's FET circuit. The FET circuit produces a transparent tone that very cleanly pushes the signal level with as much as +20dB additional boost. Shull explains how using a boost pedal is great for adding some additional grit and harmonic excitement to your tone while "keeping the character of the amp intact." The ZIO makes its appearance at about 3:30 in the video
