A Perfect Pairing: Justin at zZounds Creates a Futuristic Epic with the Electro-Harmonix Synth 9 and the Ventris Dual Reverb.
Our friend Justin over at zZounds turned our universe inside-out with this awesome video and its Sci-Fi sounds. Check out the futuristic effects created by combining the Ventris Dual Reverb and the Electro-Harmonix Synth 9. You won't believe it, but every primary track was created using nothing but guitar and the two pedals.

Justin at zZounds broke down the track for us:
"The opening of the video was a faded in excerpt of the Synth 9’s “String Synth“ mode blended with the Ventris’ “ModVerb“ mode. This is the upper melody that sounds similar to a set of strings, which was the effect I was aiming for. The lower bass synth part was the Synth9’s “Poly VI“ mode with these knob settings: Dry knob at 7 o’clock, Synth knob at 5 o’clock, Control 1 knob at 3 o’clock, and Control 2 knob at 9:15 o’clock. I blended that effect with the Ventris pedal’s Room mode with main controls set at noon, There was one final tone that sounds kind of like an organ that was made by blending the Synth 9’s OBX effect (Control 1 knob at 12, Control 2 knob at 2:45) blended with the Ventris’ EDome mode.
The middle bridge part of the song was actually really simple: I played a Tele through the Ventris on the Offspring mode with these settings: Control 1 knob at 2 o’clock and Control 2 knob also at 2 o’clock.
The final section’s bass part, which repeats until the end of the tune, was accomplished by playing the Synth9’s “Mood Bass“ mode with its Control 1 knob at 2:15 o’clock and the Control 2 knob at 3 o’clock. The previous paragraph here explains the main melody chord part that is prominent.
Overall, the coloration of the Synth9 was the main tone heard, with the Ventris adding the ambient and rhythmic pulsing effects. The Synth9 had various modulation effects that changed for each of its modes, so all of the sounds heard were created with only that and the Ventris exclusively! Both pedals were incredibly interesting and versatile, especially when used in conjunction."
