Alex Bachari
Alex Bachari is a tremendous bassist and guitar player originally from the great city of New Orleans. About 10 years ago Alex left his Louisiana home and headed north for Music City, USA (a.k.a."Nashville, Tennessee") and made a name for himself as a stellar session guitar player and more recently as the bassist for the massively successful Noah Kahan. Bachari is currently on tour with the Kahan band in support of the break-away release, Stick Season. Source Audio is based in Boston, MA, so we have a particular fondness for Noah Kahan's sound, which has deep roots in his hometown of Strafford, Vermont. The music has a palpable vibe, steeped in old world acoustic folk, but super-charged with electrified contemporary energy. The tunes also hit home with us for their brutal honesty and undeniable sense of place.
There is no doubt the Kahan musical cocktail is taking the world by storm. It was not long ago that we visited with Alex Bachari at the Paradise Rock Club (a legendary 900 capacity room on Commonwealth Ave. in Boston) during one of Kahan's earlier trips through town. But oh, how times have changed - Kahan's next two Boston shows, scheduled for July 2024, are a pair of sold out nights just down the street from The Paradise at Fenway Park, the home of the Boston Red Sox. Yes...Kahan's audience has grown.
In truth, Source Audio's relationship with Alex goes back a bit when he worked with us at our Nashville Summer NAMM booth in 2016. We invited Alex to our booth to rip some of his rootsy, New Orleans infused riffs through our pedals, so that everyone within earshot could hear how splendid Source Audio pedals sound when manned by a killer guitar player (Here is a link to some beautiful slide guitar playing from Alex at our 2016 NAMM Booth). Ever since that weekend, Alex has been a great friend and a great endorser of Source Audio pedals. Last December we tuned in with much excitement to hear Alex perform with the Noah Kahan band on Saturday Night Live. They proceeded to explode the airwaves (as well as the streaming services and local cable providers) with a truly inspired performance. And hey, how cool is it to get introduced by Emma Stone?

Let's take a look at Alex's pedalboard. For quite some time he has used the Source Audio EQ2 Programmable Equalizer and Aftershock Bass Distortion, but we recently sent him one of the original pressings of our brand new ZIO Analog Bass Preamp + DI. Alex immediately put the Bass ZIO on his board and responded "My audio team is freaking out about it. It's a game changer for them!"
After spending a little time with the pedal, Alex reported back: “Using the Bass ZIO is a no-brainer! As someone who values tone above all else, transparency and clarity are near the top of my list of priorities when I am deciding which effects pedals to use on my board. Source Audio’s ZIO not only gives me the brilliant tone enhancements I am used to with their products, it does so without negatively affecting the quality or purity of the signal going into the pedal. The I/O configuration is another reason I love this pedal. I can use the XLR out to send a clean board signal to my sound engineers while simultaneously using the 1/4” out for my amp. Everybody wins!”

Bachari also makes excellent music on his own. Under the name "A.K. Bach," Alex recently put out a killer EP titled, Work Songs, Vol. 1. It's a dark and powerful release that finds its footing in a variety of styles, from deep delta blues, to bouncing funkadelic grooves, to anthemic indie rock. The record is filled with relentless vibes, infectious melodies and of course, exceptional guitar playing. Alex never misses an opportunity to start a six-string fire with his beautiful collection of custom Rocco Guitars. We highly recommend giving the record a listen.
Alex spent most of 2023 on the road with Noah Kahan and the band. Here are just a couple of amazing performances from what has undoubtedly been a mind-blowing year for all involved.
