The Ease of Recording Software

How many of you use audio or midi recording software on your computers?
If you do, and you didn’t 10 or even 20 years ago, you don’t know how lucky you are.
Those decades-old software systems were the Model T’s of their day - yes, revolutionary - but, as I saw on a grainy black and white film from the 1920’s or thereabouts, all it took on an empty dirt road to render movement impossible was a mere acorn or a golf-ball sized hole. In fact, it would be easier to go back to that Model T and battle the eternal acorn, than try to successfully use the recording software of the 1980’s (and let’s not even talk about the haircuts we all had then - and no I do NOT have those parachute pants anymore).
Any program from Cakewalk, Propellerhead, Cubase, Logic, Acid, or you-name-it, would be like a spaceship compared to the 1980’s Model T software.
Yet, the same precautions must be taken when recording today. That is: backup to disk!!!!!! Crashes always seem to happen.
Don’t lose your work.
Don’t lose the magical musical moments that we live to capture on tape (tape???)
Take advantage of the great systems that are out there - go to online chats, email other users, go to company websites for real time tours and demos. One day, 20 years ago, engineers and musicians dreamed of these programs........................................................
