Rock and Roll Camp

Who doesn't smile just a little bit when the words "Rock and Roll camp" are heard? I know that after seeing "School of Rock" with Jack Black, that not only is the idea quite humorous, but a dream come true for many of the participants.

Number one, you get to play music in an organized way - no more placing ads in the Recycler" and waining for degenerates to show up to your door, and you have "coaches" and some pretty impressive judges/mentors (I have heard of Joe Walsh, Slash, Jack Blades and many other seasoned pros lending a hand in these camps).

And, if you think these are "day care centers" for teensgers, watch and listen to this clip:

Ever hear "Close to the Edge" performed with more pizazz and skill from a group of kids? And try to tell me that Jon Anderson wasn't thrilled!!!!!!

It proves that, people want to keep learning, people want to create some meaning in their lives, and what better way is there to do that than to plug it in and crank it up? That's right - there isn't!

While we're on the subject of "progressive rock", check out this Yes-influenced band, the Flower Kings.

I think it's great that such an influence can pop up 3 decades later, and still sound great. And did you notice the guitarist's clever use of the Wah pedal? I'd say it's time he discovered the Hot Hand Wah - as well as our new Soundblox Distortion unit.
