This is another report by the elusive, intrepid and fearless CEO of Source Audio, Roger Smith.
Getting out to meet with new bands and new musicians is a fun and important aspect of my job. Fueled up on vitamin T and Heineken, we headed out to the Paradise Rock Club to catch Lotus. We were not alone in this quest. The show was totally sold-out and the line outside the club was the longest I have ever seen. Lotus hails from , and I was exposed to them via Sirius channel 17.
They mix elements of Jazz, Rock and Electronica, and would be in the same general category with bands such as STS9 and the Disco Biscuits. Unlike some other jam-oriented bands which attract a broad age range, the Lotus fan base at the range between 18 and 21. This was not a high profit evening at the club, but the crowd was wildly enthusiastic about the 2 complete sets of high energy music. We met with guitarist Mike Rempel and bassist Jesse Miller during soundcheck. Mike ran through all of the Soundblox product and Hot Hand. His aptitude for both Hot Hand and the Multiwave Distortion was quite phenominal.
