I know that if you play guitar, you have got to admire the true innovators of our great instrument.

He has a way with chords, scales, phrasing and technique - and he always has created a unique and individual sound.
Listen to him on the U.K cd's, "Enigmatic Ocean" with Jean-Luc Ponty, and his own solo recordings. My favorite offerings of his are with Bill Bruford's band - that stuff is tremendous.
And, all the while of his illustrious career, Allan has used innovative products to help him achieve his sounds - goes to show how inovative musicians seek out innovative sound-creating devices. He has used custom guitars, multiple amp setups, and racks of effects.
I think it's time for Allan to check out the Hot hand effects!
