Eric Clapton and Guitar Equipment

I was reading this article on Eric Clapton today on CNN.com (which is a book I would not mind reading one bit) - and the end of the article absolutely stunned me - it reads:

"I'm glad it worked out that way. I still don't feel like I've got it right. I'm still working on my sound."

What? Eric Clapton is still working on hitting the right notes?

"Yeah," he replies, his laugh filling the room. "Still trying to get the right amp."

We guitarists can immediately stop feeling guilty about wanting more and more gear. If Eric Clapton still has a case of G.A.S. (Gear Aquisition Syndrome), he has proved that us mortals need not hide out of shame. Instead, embrace your passion/affliction and figure out how to make yourself truly sound your best!

Do you use the same gear you used 5, 10, 15, 20 years ago? Has your playing changed? Have your inspirations changed? Do you yearn for new and different sounds? See, it's only natural. We need some change in our life to keep things fresh. New tunes to work on, new players to play with, new places to play - in drastic ways, and in minute ways.

How about your guitar effects? The are most likely the least expensive element of your sound arsenal, yet can change your sound and approach to music as much as your guitar or amp.

I urge you to see what the Hot Hand Wah Filter and Phaser/Flanger can do for your music. In fact, send us some mp3's, as we plan on having you Hot Hand players contribute to the music on our MySpace page!
