This is another report by the elusive, intrepid and fearless CEO of Source Audio, Roger Smith.
I just heard from Herman Li of DragonForce. Herman was one of the earliest Hot Hand artists, and his career has really taken off recently. Herman is a really nice
guy, he is very funny, and he is very comfortable with all the technical aspects of a complex effects rig. Here’s a touch of Herman in action, live with Joe Satriani.
In case you have not heard Herman play duel leads with Sam Tottman, it is quite something and it thrilled millions of gamers on Guitar Hero III over the last year.
Here’s what Herman wrote to me regarding their new recording:
Hey there!
Hope you are well,
Just dropping you a quick message to let you know that I used the Hot Hand on the first single off the new album Ultra Beatdown (coming out on 26th August)
It should look interesting in the music video, I will keep you updated.
Talk to you soon!
All the best,
Herman
Here’s the album news straight from the DragonForce website. It will be very interesting to see where Dragonforce take their sound on this new work:
Ultra Beatdown is an epic, sweeping, grand collection of infectious guitar anthems that'll inspire all who listen to either pump their fists in the air or pick up a
guitar, whether it be real or virtual. DragonForce's single from 2006's Inhuman Rampage, "Through The Fire and Flames," exploded on the public beyond the
metal world thanks to its appearance on the massively popular guitar simulator game. The single has been RIAA certified Gold in the US.
The track listing for Ultra Beatdown is as follows:
1. Heroes of Our Time
2. The Fire Still Burns
3. Reasons to Live
4. Scars of Yesterday
5. Heartbreak Armageddon
6. The Last Journey Home
7. Inside the Winter Storm
8. The Warrior Inside
I would suggest that you all go see Herman and the guys on tour this summer. It is some of the fastest guitar and drum work and it is thoroughly entertaining.
