Source Audio Sponsors a Free Clinic with Bakithi Kumalo, Paul Simon’s Bassist of 25 Years.

Thursday, April 28, 2011

Good news for folks living in the Minneapolis/St. Paul area, Bakithi Kumalo, Paul Simon's bassist of the past 25 years will hold a free clinic at Schmitt Music (14150 Nicollet Ave. S Cobblestone Court BURNSVILLE, MN 55337) this Saturday, April 30th. Source Audio is proud to sponsor this very special event.  Bakithi is currently on tour with Paul Simon supporting the his latest release, So Beautiful or So What. The tour will make two Minnesota stops at the Minneapolis Convention Center Auditorium on the May 2nd and First Avenue on May 3rd.

The South African born bassist joined forces with Paul Simon during the recording of his monumental Graceland LP. The Grammy Award winning record opened a brilliant new chapter in Simon's music career while attracting worldwide attention to the music of South Africa. Standout tracks, including "The Boy in the Bubble", "Graceland", and "You Can Call Me Al," feature Kumalo's unique and magnificently proficient bass playing. During the clinic, Bakithi will discuss his technique and how he helped infuse the sound of South Africa into the music of Paul Simon.  He will also talk about how he incorporates the Hot Hand Motion Controller Ring from Source Audio into his sound.

Check out this great video of Bakithi back in the day performing "The Boy in the Bubble"

The clinic starts at 4:00 pm. We're not exactly sure about the store's capacity, so definitely show up early to get a good spot for this one of a kind event.
