Source Audio Releases the Soundblox Guitar Envelope Filter

Friday, May 06, 2011

Following the immediate success of the Soundblox Bass Envelope Filter, we proudly introduce the Soundblox Guitar Envelope Filter. From whiplash slaps to smooth gliding sweeps, this funky new pedal more than fulfills all your auto wah needs. Staying true to the Source Audio signature approach of offering maximum tone diversity with a profoundly simple control panel, the GEF packages all the power and flexibility of a rack-mounted unit into a user-friendly stompbox. We showed the pedal at the 2011 Winter NAMM Convention in Anaheim, CA and got an overwhelmingly positive response. In fact, both Premeir Guitar and Guitar Player Magazines included the Soundblox GEF as one of the hottest products on the floor in their NAMM recap issues.

For a comprehensive look at the pedal in action, check out the official GEF product demo video.

The GEF offers an extensive set of 21 individual envelope filter effects, from traditional auto wah sweeps to dramatic vocal simulations. Filter categories include 2 and 4 Pole Low Pass, Single Peak, Triple Peak, Peak & Notch, and Phaser. The control panel is incredibly easy to use, but still allows users to dial in a nearly infinite range of tones. Three controls allow you to adjust the center point of the frequency sweep, the depth and direction of the moving filter, as well as the attack and decay times. Change the direction of the filter sweep and hear a significantly different sound within each filter type.

Of course, the GEF is compatible with the Hot Hand® Motion Controller ring. If you've never used Hot Hand before, this pedal is a perfect introduction. This unique device allows users to manipulate the effect with a simple wave of the hand. The ring employs accelerometer technology, similar to a miniature Nintendo Wii controller that is easily fastened to the hand, head, foot or instrument headstock. As the ring moves, so does the filter.

Wanna hear the GEF in action? Take a look at this cool video of Parliament/Funkadelic’s Dwayne “Blackbyrd” McKnight jamming with the GEF. This was a serious all-star jam we filmed at Musikmesse in March 2011, that’s Norwood Fisher of Fishbone on bass and T.M. Stevens of Shacka Zooloo singing and also playing bass.
