Eric Krasno of Soulive began using Hot Hand live during their recently concluded US tour. Eric started off using the Phaser/Flanger in both the Hot Hand modulation mode as well as the LFO mode. During the last week of the tour he also started using the Wah filters. He has one preset for strumming that uses a multi-peak wah sound. He has a second preset for picking that uses a band-pass wah sound. Eric places the Hot Hand ring on him pinky and generally does not use exaggerated hand motions. He has developed a Hot Hand playing style which is subtle, but very effective. He uses one ring to control both Hot Hand boxes.
Eric continues to establish his reputation as one of the most explosive jazz or funk artists on the scene today. He made a special guest artist appearance last March at the Beacon Theatre with the Allman Brothers. In a move that stunned hardcore Allman fans that descend on Manhattan for the annual 2 week Beacon run, Eric actually upstaged guitar superstars Warren Haynes and Derek Trucks with inspired solos.
Eric takes Hot Hand to Japan in early October for 6 Soulive shows. Soulive developed a very strong fan base in Japan while they were recording for the Blue Note label. Their most recent CD, “No Place Like Soul” is out on the recently revived STAX label.
Not only are they a great live band - they have a nice profile on Wikipedia for a nice bio on them.
