Another excellent online information source for "all things guitar" has featured the Hot Hand Wah Filter. PremierGuitar.com has proven itself to be second to none in terms of in-depth reviews of choice gear. See it here:What impressed me most of all was the fact that they really spent some time with the Wah Filter - and prove it by discussing the unit in detail, while playing along to show the ideas in a musical context. He really understood the differences in playing technigue when dialing the Motion knob from "pick" to "flail". I have always like the knob set to "flail", and when picking, you get very subtle flavors of the wah filter, which is really nice in a band setting. It doesn't overpower anything, yet awakens your ears with a "what's going on there" curiosity.
This is a site to bookmark, as they take great gear seriously, and go to great lengths in discussing the same in detail. The only thing I would have liked to hear and see in the video clip would have been the use of Hot Hand with distortion - but heck, I am rather addicted when it comes to guitar distortion. But, the same techniques apply as with clean playing - so that's just for us to try on our own.
