Online Guitar Lessons

Saturday, September 08, 2007

While reading through the October 2007 issue of Guitar Player magazine, I was astounded by the amount of great learning material there is for guitarists online - as advertised within the magazine.

So, I decided to have a "looksee" and see what those sites offer. Keep in mind, that I am just travelling to a few online guitar lesson sites, and I am not even including Guitarplayertv, which has a ton of new lessons posted regularly. And don't forget Youtube for guitar lessons.

First off, I went to Jimmy Bruno.

What an incredible jazz player. Regardless of your playing style, there's no way you would not improve if you stuied his lessons. I rented his instructional dvd from Netflix (another great source of guitar lessons). They ship anywhere, and include free return postage - it does not get any easier than that.

Right on the same page as the Jimmy Bruno ad was an ad for online lessons from the Berklee School of Music. Go to Berklee while staying at home. Nice.

Right when I thought the ads were finished, while reading an article on George Lynch, he mentions that he "teaches 400 or more students a week" through online lessons at Guitar Dojo.

No matter what style we play, there's never been an easier time to find great online sources of instruction. The only negative is that there are so many great websites, making it hard to choose on just a few!
