OK Go and Touring

I was reading this blog by Damian of OK Go, and I realized that not has changed much in the trenches of a rock and roll band - as Damian vividly recaps the day by day escapades of a band driving while on tour.
I recall spending far too many days and nights in a red Volkswagon bus, squeezed in between guitar cases and bass speaker cabinets, feeling like a forgotten lamp in a stranger's attic. Obviously, if you've ever played a few live shows, let alone embark on a multi-city tour, this is something you will have to get used to - and hopefully make it a positive situation out of this.
Truth be told, our old band had many great times traveling from gig to gig - from discussing any and all subjects including our music, girlfriends, and hopes for the future. It also made us stronger as a band, as we became much better friends.
I read that the Beatles used to do the same thing in the early days - with each member taking turns driving. Now that alone makes one feel part of a great legacy - one that will surely live on for as long as rock and roll exists.
But, as long as the end results resemble this, we all should be very happy.
