From the official press release for the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell today announced the music lineup for the 2011 Festival scheduled for April 29 - May 1 and May 5 - 8. With twelve stages of virtually every style of roots music, Jazz Fest presents one of the entertainment world’s most diverse music lineups, including its unparalleled showcase of Louisiana’s unique culture.  Hundreds of thousands of fans annually flock  to the seven-day event that has been called America’s best festival.

Source Audio users will include Galactic, Michael Franti & Spearhead, Nels Cline (with Wilco) and the Decemberists. Tickets are only $40 a day – and with a line up that includes Jeff Beck, Sonny Rollins, Gregg Allman, Bon Jovi and Robert Plant, how can you pass this up? And, that's just a small portion of the booked talent, which is a truly astounding list. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention - this is a festival for New Orleans culture, which includes great food as well - as it should! Here's what the official website has to say about the vittles:

The dizzying array of choices extends beyond pot-cooked favorites such as shrimp and okra gumbo, meaty white beans, crawfish bisque, oyster Rockefeller bisque, and sausage macque choux to New Orleans’ famous po-boy sandwiches stuffed with anything from fried local crawfish with jalapenos to luscious cochon de lait.  Savories include shrimp cocktail, fried green tomatoes, Creole hot tamales, fried oyster spinach salad, and catfish almondine.  Don’t forget to try such highly portable crowd pleasers as fried chicken livers with pepper jelly, turkey giardinera po-boy, Creole stuffed crab, cracklin and hot sausage po-boy.  Take a mini vacation and sample some of our extraordinary international cuisine from Vietnam, Japan, Tunisia and Mexico.  Indulge your sweet tooth with sweet potato cookies, banana bread pudding, pecan pie, couscous with yogurt sauce, spumoni, and lemon pound cake.  Look also for new items in our popular child friendly menu in the kid’s area including cupcakes and corn on the cob.

And you can always check for updates on their official Facebook page.
