Musikmesse 2010 with Reeves Gabrels and Warwick

Friday, April 02, 2010

Ah yes!  Another Music Trade Show!  This time Rodge sent the team packing to Frankfurt, Germany home of the Euro and of course, of Musikmesse 2010.  This time we were proud to have acclaimed guitarist Reeves Gabrels along for the ride.  Reeves, known for his virtuosic guitar playing, experimental sounds and his collaborations with world-class artists, has been a dedicated user of the Multiwave Distortion for some time now.

See below for a video of Reeves and me jamming with a variety of settings on our Source Audio pedalboards:

I was honored to have the opportunity to be backing Reeves on the bass, working to bring the groove over the OFFICIAL Source Audio drum machine (tracks produced by the infamous Brett Gildersleeve).  Our performances took place on a cozy stage within the larger Warwick booth where we had an audience of great musicians including TM Stevens, DeWayne 'Blackbyrd' McKnight, Divinity Roxx and many others who were really digging the sounds of the pedals.

Harmony Central, the massive online musicians forum and website, was also in attendance at Musikmesse.  They were kind enough to feature the new line of products in their highlight reels documenting the trade show and also posted their own video of Reeves and I rocking from our little stage!  It certainly seems like the pedals are picking up some steam all on there own.  The sounds are dramatic and people are really beginning to notice how versatile and subtle they can be too.

As the show reached an end, we found that a good number of the Warwick artists were deeply interested in playing with pedals.  We ended up giving P-Funk musical director and guitarist, Blackbyrd McKnight a Classic Distortion Pro right of the board to take home with him.  His reaction in an email sent to us just a couple of days later says it all:

"WOW DUDE !!!!!!! I just plugged up the sound box pro Classic distortion you gave me in and it's WORKIN.  I only gave it a couple of presets and IT'S KILLIN ME. DAMM RIGHT I'M TAKIN IT WITH ME TO BRAZIL AND ANYWHERE ELSE. I was looking for another box besides the one I'm using now and I think I found it thanks to you guys."

Needless to say, the dude loves it!  He's a great player and it's fantastic to have a Source Audio pedal in his hands getting that kind of reaction.  Stay tuned for more info on Blackbyrd's music and projects!
