This is one publication that you can count on for some insightful entertainment reviews. In their much heralded "Overrated - Underrated" section, here's what they had to say obout Source Audio artists Galactic and My Morning Jacket:
"Galactic's 'The Other Side of Midnight': If you've been watching HBO's "Treme," odds are you've caught this jazz-funk ensemble lighting up New Orleans' rich music scene. But those cameos are just a taste of the group's raucous performances, captured here with this newly released live album. Featuring guest turns from Trombone Shorty and Cyril Neville, the recording is a brassy, hip-shaking snapshot of the Crescent City sound, no cable subscription required".
My Morning Jacket's 'Holding on to Black Metal': Halfway through this band's sixth studio album, "Circuital," you can't help worrying if these reverb-soaked Bonnaroo favorites have run out of new things to say since their monstrous 2006 live album, "Okonokos." Then this song starts. Full of brash horn hits and a groove borrowed from a vintage Thai pop compilation (seriously), its echoing chorus and sea of "oh-oh-whoa-ohs" could become this summer's soundtrack.
It's nice to see something insightful written about some of today's great music, which hopefully keep us tuning into the positive and creative elements of today's society, which at times can be as hard to find as a diamond nestled in a dumpster of "Real Housewives", "Jersey Shore" and "Kardashians" drivel.
