We just received a very cool and incredibly comprehensive review of the Soundblox Multiwave Distortion on a excellent guitar website called JamPlay. This is, without a doubt, one of the most thorough reviews I have ever encountered either in print or on the web. Yes, it contains the standard audio clips, but reviewer Chris Liepe went even deeper and recorded a wickedly amazing guitar instrumental using tones pulled exclusively from the Multiwave. The demo does a fantastic job of unlocking many of the pedal’s wild sound possibilities and packages them in a format that totally rocks. From the sturdy attack and heightened note articulation of the Multi Band Normal effect types to the radical and synth-like sounds of Single Band Foldback, the recording touches all the bases.

After you check out the review, make sure you take a look around the JamPlay website. I have to admit, I was blown away by the site’s attention to detail and abundance of guitar knowledge.  The flood of information coursing through the Multiwave review is present in EVERY aspect of the JamPlay site. It is an incredible resource for guitarists of all skill levels. There are tons of great articles and exceptionally helpful video tutorials hosted by a talented pool of players from all musical genres. Everything you need is here: basic & advanced lessons, technique tutorials, song tutorials, genre & style studies, music theory, and music equipment reviews. You’ll want to visit the ever-buzzing forum as well as live video chats with hosts accepting instant message questions on anything related to the guitar. I spent a long time watching one of these video chats the other day and found it supremely entertaining and wildly informative. There is a subscription cost, but it is very, very worth it. We’re not talking about random YouTube videos of some dude sitting in front of a camera in his bedroom showing how he’s mastered the opening riff to “Enter Sandman”, these are high quality videos from great players giving you in depth instructions on how to play songs from artists as diverse as Fleetwood Mac, Slipknot, The Beatles and Judas Priest…oh, and they also take requests. Ever wonder what exactly a chorus pedal is and what makes sound the way that it does? Well all that information is here too, along with in depth reviews of chorus pedals currently on the market. Whatever your skill level, I think there is something to be learned on this site. Here are a couple of examples that demonstrate the quality and variety of the JamPlay instructional videos.

Anyway, getting back to the review. We seriously appreciate when a reviewer takes the time to get to know one of our pedals and understand the motivation behind its design. In an age when vintage gear and vintage gear knock-offs rule, our Soundblox Multiwave Distortion pedal takes a resolutely anti-retro stance. Mr. Liepe totally embraced this concept, he remarked: “After setting my need for the same old sound aside, a large grin started to develop on my face and I couldn't put the pedal aside...This thing is cool. It doesn't and can't sound like a Tube Screamer, or a DS-1 or a Big Muff. It sounds like the Multiwave, and the Multiwave seems to have about 200 sounds that still don't sound like anything else I've ever heard.” This is very true—like most guitarists, we at Source Audio love the sounds of a Tube Screamer or a Big Muff, but we also believe there is still space left in the world for new distortion tones. We thank JamPlay for recognizing that as well.

Visit the site, read the review, rock the house…goodbye.

Oh...wait. Just for the hell of it, you should check out this JamPlay produced video documenting Gwar's visit to suburbia.
