Jimmy Page model doubleneck

Monday, March 12, 2007

No, we can't buy a Time Machine to go back into a decade of choice and buy up all the great old instruments, amps and effects that we love.

But, thanks to numerous companies (Gibson in this case), we can get blueprints of those great instruments made today. http://www.guitarcenter.com/jimmypage/main.cfm.

The signature guitars are based on the specs of the ‘71 double neck that Page used in Led Zeppelin. Gibson is producing a limited number of these guitars, with 25 Aged Series being made available to the public, and 250 Vintage Original Spec (VOS) guitars. The VOS guitars feature a mahogony body and mahogony necks, Jimmy Page humbuckers, dark cherry finish, and other specs true to the original. The 25 Aged Series guitars include all of these features plus a specially designed Custom Shop case, signed certificate of authenticity, a copy of a private interview with Page about the guitar, and a two-DVD box set of Led Zeppelin.

Available only through Guitar Center locations, the Aged Series guitars will retail at $33,500, and the VOS guitars will retail at $10,586. Several Guitar Center locations will be hosting a Platinum Night on Sunday, March 18th, where customers will have a chance to win the right to purchase a low serial number Aged Series guitar. The locations having Platinum Nights include Hollywood, Manhattan, Nashville, Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, Rockville, Atlanta, and San Jose. The VOS guitars were available for sale starting on March 7th.

Aside from the collectability reasons - Why do I like "artist signature" instruments?

Simple - INSPIRATION.

An instruments chief purpose, be it a guitar, an amp, or an effects pedal, is to inspire you to come up with your best music.

What instruments inspire you?????????
