What is it with all the heavy hitters of experimental guitar and their interest in Source Audio pedals? Reeves Gabrels, Earl Slick, Herman Li, Vernon Reid—all these guys are who they are because of a common desire to pull previously unheard sounds from the guitar. And listen to this, just last week we got an email from Adrian Belew—definitely a monster in the world of musical avant-garde—regarding the Soundblox Pro Multiwave and Classic Distortion pedals. He spoke about his upcoming one man tour: “My plan all along was to carry a very few select 'stomp boxes' I cannot live without…The Classic and Multiwave may have just upset my apple cart! They are the best distortion boxes ever made." Wow, we love our Soundblox Pro pedals, but nobody around the office has been forthright enough to call them “the best distortion boxes ever made”. We will, however, accept the complement.
Check out a recent blog from Adrian himself where he talks about using the Soundblox Pro Classic Distortion. Please keep in mind that this is not a man new to the world of amp modeling. He’s embraced this type of technology for years and has undoubtedly seen it all, so for him to choose the Soundblox Pro Classic Distortion speaks volumes on the quality of the pedal.
Just in case your not familiar with the music of Adrian Belew, let me assure you he’s an artist of the highest caliber. His contributions to progressive and avant-garde rock both in his solo endeavors and as the front man of King Crimson are enough to make him a legend, but look at the list of artists he’s performed with and the classic albums he’s helped them record and you’ll get a true understanding of his influence on modern music—Frank Zappa (Sheik Yerbouti), The Talking Heads (Remain in Light), David Bowie (Lodger), Nine Inch Nails (The Downward Spiral), Paul Simon (Graceland)…it’s pretty staggering.
Make sure you come out and see Adrian on his upcoming tour—Adrian Belew: Painting with Guitar (An Electric One Man Show). We can’t wait to hear what he does with our pedals. There’s no doubt he’ll discover some new sound possibilities that we didn’t know existed.
